We are happy to offer our valued patients the option to take positive steps towards health and wellness without any barriers or concerns through virtual physiotherapy appointments.
Virtual appointments are designed for anyone who is not able to make it to the clinic for an in-person appointment by connecting you to a physiotherapist remotely via a screen through a compatible electronic device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) using a webcam.
One of our physiotherapists will review your medical history, and perform a detailed assessment through observations, tests, and movements, they will analyze your movements and determine the root cause of your problems over a video consultation. Once the problem has been diagnosed a treatment plan will be created to help get you on the path to recovery.
We can provide a variety of virtual treatments including:
Physiotherapy for all types of injuries, aches, and pains
Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
Yoga and Therapeutic Exercise Program
Please note: Not all patients will be eligible or able to participate in virtual physiotherapy sessions. This will be assessed and discussed during the initial online consultation.

You will need access to a device that is connected to the internet with camera and audio capabilities such as a computer, tablet, or a smart phone.
It is important that you find an open space in your home that will allow you the space to do exercises on the ground, against a wall, sitting or standing. Wear loose and comfortable clothing, workout attire is recommended. You will want to gather any fitness equipment that your physiotherapist recommended during your initial online consultation (for example: a foam roller, release balls (lacrosse, tennis), resistance bands, or small weights).
What conditions can be treated virtually?
Any condition that our Physiotherapists normally treat in clinic can be treated virtually. We treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, vestibular or pelvic health conditions. If your therapist determines that your specific condition would benefit from in person care they will let you know.
Your health and wellness are our top priority and we will always make sure to be clear about the best treatment options available to you once we understand your condition.
Are virtual sessions covered by my Extended Health Benefits?
Most likely. Many extended health insurance companies are now providing coverage for virtual care because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We do however recommend that you verify with your insurance provider prior to your appointment as all plans are different. Our team can help verify your coverage; in some cases, we may even be able to bill your insurance provider directly.
How do I pay for my Virtual Physiotherapy Session?
If there are additional fees that are not covered by your insurance provider, you can also pay for your session using your credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
Are virtual appointments secure?
Yes. We use a safe and secure video conferencing platform to connect you with your health practitioner. This platform is PIPEDA and PHIPA compliant, which means it meets the standards for health privacy in Canada and Ontario.
How are Virtual appointments different from in-Person Appointments?
For the most part, the services are essentially the same. Our physiotherapists are required to meet the same regulatory and legislative requirements and adhere to their respective Standards of Practice and Code of Conduct, just as they are for in-person services.
PT Care Rehab has strict privacy and information security policies and procedures in place regarding the management of information when using electronic communication technologies.
Will I still get good quality care?
Absolutely, you can expect to receive the same safe, quality care that you would get during an in-person visit. Our Physiotherapists are expected to meet the same Standards of Practice regardless of how the services are delivered.
Don't treatments have to be hands-on to work?
It doesn’t have to be, although hands-on care has its advantages, so do online physiotherapy. Being that we are focused on movement and exercise quality, our physiotherapy treatment style is already well suited for online rehab. Virtually, we can watch, modify, and correct exercise and still make modifications to your rehab as needed. We also instruct you on how to perform effective hands on self-treatments.
What equipment will I need to connect with a Physiotherapist?
Not much, you simply need a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone with a camera and audio to see and speak with your physiotherapists. You will also need access to the internet.
We will provide clear instructions and links to access your virtual sessions online.
What equipment will I need for my virtual treatments?
We have purposely designed our virtual physiotherapy program to utilize what you have around your home. Some treatments won't require any assistive devices. Your physiotherapist will guide you through what assistive devices you can use around your house if required. This will be discussed during your initial online consultation.
